Abstract:Abstract: Since December 2019, a series of unexplained pneumonia cases have been reported in Wuhan, China. Subsequent investigations identified a novel coronavirus, and WHO officially named the disease as corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Up to now, the detection methods for COVID-19 include nucleic acid based diagnostic methods, antibody based serological diagnosis, and peripheral blood examination. At present, quantitative real-time RT-PCR (RT-qPCR) is recommended as the gold standard for diagnosis of COVID-19. However, RT-qPCR has problems such as missed detection and false negative results. Therefore, it is critical to develop a high-quality and high-precision diagnostic procedure for control and prevention of COVID-19. Here, the latest advances and application of laboratory diagnostic methods of COVID-19 were reviewed, which would provide a reference for rapid and accurate diagnosis of COVID-19.
