Abstract:Abstract: Patatin-like phospholipase domain containing protein 7 (PNPLA7) is a lysophospholipase anchored on the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). PNPLA7 is highly expressed in tissues with high levels of energy meta-bolism and lipid turnover, and its expression is regulated by nutritional status. PNPLA7 regulates the secre-tion of very-low-density lipoproteins by interacting with apolipoprotein E, controlling the accumulation of triacylglycerol in the liver. In addition, cyclic nucleotides, such as cyclic adenosine monophosphate, regulate the binding of PNPLA7 with lipid droplets, the triacylglycerol storage organelle. Herein, recent progress and prospects of PNPLA7 research are summarized.
