Abstract:Abstract: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a degenerative nervous system disease characterized by synaptic loss, cognitive decline and progressive neuronal death. Its main clinical manifestations are cognitive decline and behavioral disorders. In many etiological theories, the presence of amyloid plaques is the main marker of AD pathology, and extracellular amyloid β-protein (Aβ) plays an important role in the pathogenesis of AD. Ex-cessive deposition of Aβ in the brain will lead to mitochondrial dysfunction, synaptic dysfunction, inflammatory response and other pathological processes, which seriously interfere with information processing in the brain. There is still no effective treatment for AD so far. Herein, the research progress in the pathotoxicological effects of Aβ is summarized, in the hope of providing theoretical reference for further research on AD.
