Abstract:Abstract:Lampreys in the parasitic stage are known as“vampires”, which usually live on the flesh and blood of host fishes. Recently, a large number of researches have reported that buccal gland secretion of lampreys contains various proteins which are related to anticoagulation, immune escape, anti-angiogenesis, analgesia and oxidative stress. To clarify the characterizations and biological functions of these active proteins from lamprey buccal glands would provide new insights into the unique parasitic mechanisms of lampreys and application of these active proteins.
