Abstract：Abstract: Sulfur amino acids, including methionine, cystine and cysteine, are essential nutrients for pigs. Among them, methionine is an essential amino acid that contains sulfur. Previous studies showed that sulfur-containing amino acids play important roles in porcine feeding, growth, immunity and so on. The gastrointestinal tract is the primary site of digestion and absorption of nutrients. One of the main metabolites of sulfur-containing amino acids is glutathione, which can promote recovery of the intestinal barrier function. And taurine, another main metabolite, participates in oxidative stress response, osmotic adjustment and other physiological processes. Therefore, the sulfur-containing amino acids can be used to improve the growth performance and maintain the intestinal health of pigs.
