Abstract:Abstract: To investigate the association between body composition, muscle strength and bone mineral density (BMD) in Chinese adolescents, a total of 691 male and 756 female students aged 12~18 years were enrolled from a secondary school in Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province. Basic information of studied subjects was collected using a questionnaire. Body composition, muscle strength and BMD were measured. Pearson correlation analysis and linear regression analysis were used to analyze the relationship of BMD with body composition and muscle strength. The results showed that muscle mass was positively associated with BMD in both male and female adolescents (β=1.138~2.618, P<0.05), and muscle strength was positively related to BMD in male adolescents (β=0.077~0.386, P<0.05). The results support the theory that muscle mass in both male and female adolescents and muscle strength in male adolescents were associated with high BMD.
