Abstract:Abstract: The p53 family genes (p53, p63 and p73) are closely connected with tumor. To study their related properties, firstly the protein coding sequences (CDS) of p53 family genes were mapped into numerical sequences. Secondly, discrete Fourier transform was applied to the numerical sequences and their power spectrums were calculated. Moreover, the properties of p53 family genes, such as the maximum power spectrum, signal-to-noise ratio, shift skewness and three-base periodicity’s intensity, were analyzed based on the power spectrum. Finally, according to the result of the three-base periodicity property of p53 family genes, the feature vector was constructed and the stepwise cluster analysis was applied to the genes. The result showed that the properties of p63 and other two genes are similar, while p53 and p73 genes have a significant difference. Besides, the actual cases and comparison proved that stepwise cluster analysis is of high validity for p53 family genes.
