Abstract:As a regulator of human materials and energy, AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) plays an important regulatory role in obesity, diabetes, hyperlipidemia and other metabolic diseases. Recent studies have shown that AMPK signaling pathway plays an important role in regulating bone homeostasis microenvironment, such as osteogenesis, adipogenesis, osteoclast, and so on. The imbalance of bone homeostasis microenvironment is one of the major causes of osteoporosis, femoral head necrosis and other bone diseases. Herein, the structure and functions of AMPK and its role in human lipid and bone metabolisms were discussed to further clarify its role in the formation of osteopathy, and the possible mechanisms in non-traumatic osteo-necrosis of the femoral head (NONFH), providing theoretical basis for NONFH research and targeted treatment.
