Abstract:Abstract: Due to its advantages such as high-throughput, moderate reads and acceptable price, next-gene-ration sequencing is favored by numerous consumers around the world. Herein, advances in the application of this sequencing technology in tobacco were summarized, including genomic sequencing for seven tobacco plants, metagenomic sequencing, transcriptome sequencing, detection and identification of tobacco viruses. Meanwhile, existing problems in application of next-generation sequencing in tobacco industry were also described. The review aimed to provide new insight for related researchers.
